Issue launch: Bootlegger Mag #3
August 1st (6-11pm) - Société des Arts Technologique (SAT)
Very excited for this one. Founded in 2021, Bootlegger Magazine is an effort at uplifting the creative youth beyond the limits of traditional art institutions. Its curation is led by a playful, eclectic and contemporary vision that stays dynamic by covering a broad range of artwork. It immortalizes the work of promising young talent outside of the confinement of the digital world.
Their third issue launches on August 1st, at the SAT (1201 St Laurent Blvd, Montreal) from 6 - 11PM. The issue’s selection of artists will showcase their work in a mass exhibition, accompanied by original DJ sets by local favourites.
Vernissage: Parachute by Studio Rat
August 1st (6pm) - Arsenal Contemporary
Following a year-long residency at Arsenal Contemporary Art, Studio Rat explores our coexistence with plastic in Parachute, an oversized inflatable installation quilted with the remains of our consumer habits. Similar to a quilt, Parachute traces the material story of its making by highlighting the past lives of plastic discards while simultaneously engaging with its reimagined value for the present and the future.
Made of discarded plastic sheets and shopping bags salvaged over time, Studio Rat's 30 foot high inflatable structures stand in direct opposition to traditional, static architecture. Both an altar of hope and a room to inhabit, Parachute presents multiple scenes of both intimacy and expanse that reimagine our connection with plastic.
Vernissage: Sympathy! by Connie Wilson
August 1st (6-8pm) - Chris Andrews Gallery
Sympathy is artist Connie Wilson’s first solo exhibition with Chris Andrews gallery. The exhibition is accompanied by a text by New York-based writer Uma Payne. More details to come!!
Reading: Esmerelda With an E
August 2nd (8pm) - Le Centre du Rat
Kind of a reading, kind of a film screening, this event is in support of the novel Esmerelda With an E by Montreal writer Grendel. This reading features performances by Emilie Lafleur, Billy Pedlow, Maurane, Steve Anwyll, Wes Civilz, Alana Dunlop, The Last Male Poet and I Don’t Read Theory. Maurane, Billy Pedlow, and Wes Civilz will also be premiering their movie, Me and My Victim, at Fantasia in support of the novel.

August 9th (6-11pm) - Location on RSVP
The Sun Room is a ‘traveler’s companion’ literary magazine featuring a collection of poetry, prose, and interviews that bridges art and nature.
